Moon Palace - Cancun

We are having such a great time. This place is wonderful. The food is good and our rooms are really nice too. We have a hammock on our balcony so Chris has been spending a lot of time out there. I haven't taken many pictures so I am going to try and do that today and tomorrow. I am just having a blast. I really needed some relaxation and I am getting it. What a blessing these free vacations are!!! I'll try to post pictures tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Sherry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all are saying it again "Happy Birthday Sherry/Nana!!!

Oh my gosh, I have been sooooooooo busy. Sorry that I haven't posted in a while but I just haven't really had any time. Tomorrow is Jax's Christmas party and after I go to that I have to come home and pack. I am stressing about it. I have to pack for Arkansas, Cancun and the boys hunting trip all at one time. It makes me tired just thinking about it. I keep telling myself if I forget anything I can buy it. Oh I just thought, you can't buy passports at Walmart. Guess I better make sure I don't forget them.

IT SNOWED TODAY!

Seriously, it snowed here. Everyone around here was in complete shock. Some were excited, Chris and my friend Heather, and some of us were mad we couldn't go and slip on a pair of flip flops. Just kidding, it was fun but I don't care for anymore this year. I wanted to take a picture of the snow on my palm trees but my camera battery was dead and the picture on my phone didn't turn out so good.

I thought I better try and fill you all in on what we have been up to. I know I didn't put much effort in my last 2 posts, but they were good ones. So, anyway we have been so busy. Doing what??? I am not sure, uh Christmas shopping, gymnastics, Christmas shopping, cleaning, selling Chris' samples on ebay, laundry, beauty shop, raising other peoples children, exercising every day, and that is all I can think of right now.

I have to tell a funny story on Brooks. It seems like everyday I am entertained by both of my children, but this story is so typical. Kids have no concept of money, especially a 4 year old. So, Brooks and I went to Best Buy to get some gift cards and we looked a little bit at the Wii stuff. He found a hunting game that he wanted REALLY bad. He was hugging it saying he just couldn't let it go. I tried to tell him he had to let it go but he wouldn't. He tried everything to get me to buy it, but I stayed strong. I told him Christmas was close and maybe he would get it then. He just couldn't put it down. I explained to him about the security up in the front of the store and what would happen if we tried to leave without paying for it. He pouted all the way to the car and told me he was so mad at me. He said, "all you have to do is give them your devit card." Yes, he called it my devit card! I couldn't help but laugh, but he was really, really mad at me. He will be so excited when he opens it up. He talks about that game every day.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We did. We all ate too much, but I managed to stay away from the pecan pie. I did have my share of pumpkin pie though but that is not too bad.

We have been having fun hanging out with the family. Mary Jo and David came for dinner Tuesday night and then Jami had to leave yesterday to head to Arkansas with them. It is so quiet around here now without Luke and Lane. We miss them. The boys all played pretty well together, but it did get loud and crazy at times. Luke is so big and is talking a lot. He is so cute and sweet. Lane became my big buddy. He kept saying that he loved me. So precious.

Today all of the boys went golfing. I guess they got sick of playing wii golf so they thought they would play for real. Mom and I went to two stores but that was the extent of our shopping.

We have decided to stay and leave Monday. Why not?? Jax will miss school, but the traffic should be a lot better than it would be on Saturday or Sunday.

I guess when we get home I am going to have to focus on Christmas shopping. I have to get started.

Below are a few pictures. The first is a picture of the boys feeding the ducks just down from my parents house. The next is a picture of all of the boys after a game of football. Below that is a little video of them playing football.

Busy Busy Week

Oh it has been a busy week, but before I get into that...AMANDA AND BILLY ARE HAVING ANOTHER GIRL and we are so excited. I think they were hoping for a little football player but
God knows best. We now have perfect balance 2 girls and 2 boys. So sorry for the lack of posts but it has been crazy busy. We are leaving for Tampa Friday mid day so I am trying to get ready for that. I went to 2 different beauty supplies to get stuff for me, my mom and Jami. Then to the bank. Then to get my nails done. After that I went and got the boys 2 new movies for the 13 hour road trip. Next CVS to pick up Chris' steroids...he has poison ivy AGAIN!!! I headed home to find Chris across the street cutting out one of the "wise men" out of plywood. Apparently, Pat has always wanted a huge nativity scene in her yard. She ordered a 200.00 pattern set and bought several sheets of plywood and traced them and Chris cut some of them out. She is over there right now cutting out more of them. I ended up helping with the sanding and priming. After that is all done she has to draw picture then paint. She wants me to help but I really don't have time. I am not an artist anyway, what is she thinking. So anyway, then we picked Jax up and came home and I pushed mowed the yard while Chris ran the weed eater. Then he ran out of weed eater cord and one thing led to another. I had to run to Lowes and since I was going that way I should pick up a 6 pack of Miller Lites because weed eating makes you thirsty. Then Chris thought I should get a pizza from Papa Johns on my way by there. So I did those things as fast as I could and got home to hand the pizza off and go for a run with Jessica. We have been working out 5 days a week. 3 days of running and 2 days of a full body workout tape. I can really tell she has lost some weight and is toning up and I ..................well, I feel really strong.

I wanted to put some pictures of Chris' deer on here but we haven't downloaded them yet. Maybe later.

Oh yeah, Chris and I went for check ups yesterday. We both had great blood pressure but I am anxious for the rest of the results. Chris had high cholesterol a couple of years ago. They are testing my thyroid along with the other normal things. By the way, I got Brooks' blood test results back and we still don't know if he is allergic to peanuts. I am going to see a specialist but the results are really weird. The scale goes from .34 to 100. His peanut allergy came back .60 and his milk allergy was .37 and his egg white was .75. So he eats scrambled eggs, drinks milk by the gallons so I am guessing he isn't really allergic to any of those things but we will see what the allergist says.

Alarm Malfunction

Chris is out of town and in a tree somewhere so he cannot talk. I have to email him or text him if I want to talk to him. He texted me at 5 something this morning to see if we were okay because the alarm company had left him a message. So here is the email I sent him this morning:

Well, honey here are the lovely details of my fun night. At 11:30 it started storming and the alarm went off. I had it set to beep first before it immediately goes off, but it didnt do that, it just went off. I got up and checked it out, Jax was crying. The alarm company called and wanted the pass code and to see if everything was okay. Apparently I don't know the pass code. I rambled off several numbers I thought it could be. So now I am scared and I reset the alarm. It goes off again in about a minute. They call me back. She said it must be the storm and I said okay. I go get back in bed and the alarm beeped like someone opened the door. I get up terrified and go to the alarm and it has some kind of function code. I called the lady back that called me and she said to alarm and disarm it and start over. I did and that fixed it. I turn the alarm back on and go get in bed. I am laying there so awake and scared. I was just laying there looking around. Then I see a flashlight shining in our bathroom window. Nice, then I see someone is shining the light all around our bedroom and back porch. It was thundering and lightening but there was no doubt it was a flashlight. I looked out the window and saw a lady in black with a flashlight looking all over our yard and porch. I got my glasses on and saw that it was a police officer. I run to the front door and look outside and there are 4 police cars in front of the house. I am in my pjs but I really didn't care at this point. I opened the front door, it is pouring down rain, and I say "hello, hello" and then they come walking to the door. They asked if my alarm was set off and I tell them what happened. They said they get a lot of calls like that when it is storming. The male officer said not to be worried that it is very safe in this neighborhood. Well, I didn't feel very safe at the moment. I set the alarm back and go to bed, and 20 minutes later it goes off again. It didn't beep first it just went off so I turned the damn thing off. The lady calls me back and suggests I call ASG security tomorrow. Yeah you think!

Brooks goes to Gymnastics

I took Brooks for a trial gymnastics class today, and he loved it. He jumped right out there when they called his name and never looked back. The reason I took him was a few weeks ago we went to a birthday party at the Cypress Academy and the boys had a blast. Since then, Brooks has been asking to go back. I thought it would be something fun for him to do. It is going to be good for him. He has to listen and follow instructions. He also has to learn to wait in line for his turn. He is not really that patient, I wonder where he gets that from. So I signed him up and we go on Thursdays at 10:15.

My hubby is gone again. It is okay though. He is getting a well deserved vacation. He is headed to Kansas and then Missouri. He is going with his friend Jaime Carty. They are so excited! It is so cute to see him all wound up ready to go kill a deer. He and Jaime have talked a hundred times during the passed few days. They have "buck fever" really bad! I hope they both get a big one.

Check Up day

I took the boys today for their yearly check ups. We went to the new pediatric office right by our house. I wasn't crazy about them but nothing to complain about either. I guess I probably won't find Dr. Beene's equivalent. I sure miss that lady. Anyway, Chris was supposed to go with me but he had to go help Austin with some big meeting. Surprise, Surprise. So I took them by myself and they did great. I was a little anxious. I knew Jax had to get one shot and the flu mist, and Brooks had to get 4 shots, the flu mist and his blood drawn. I was so happy with them. No one cried!!! Seriously, it was a breeze. They were very brave. Brooks had an eye exam and a hearing test. He passed them both, even though I would swear he is deaf sometimes. It was so cute though, they did his eye exam with shapes. He was covering his eye and reading off the shapes. I don't know why but it was just precious. He would say moon, heart, circle and x (which was really a + but he didn't know, x is in Jax's name and it kind of looked like it.) I thought it was so cute. They weighed them and measured them. Jax is 55% in height and 50 % in weight, so basically his measurements were average. Brooks was 95% in height and 75% in weight. I knew he was tall but I was shocked by his weight. The last time his height was 95% and 25% in weight, and I thought it would be the same this time. I guess he should weigh more because he is taller than 95% of the kids his age, but he seems so skinny to me. So that is how the check up went today. All is well there.

I must get back to the election. I am hoping it starts looking better!

Halloween

The boys had so much fun running all over the neighborhood. We went and picked up Heather and Patrick and their 2 kids Brooke and Hunter. We opened the back of Chris car and the adults took turns sitting back there with the kids. It was really funny because at first everyone was afraid to go to the doors except Brooks. He was really into the trick or treating. He was the first one to the door and when the other 3 saw that the coast was clear they joined him. Brooks was the first one done though. He rode in the car with daddy for the last 30 minutes. We have WAY too much candy in this house. I am going running first thing in the morning!

My day of rest

Today was going to be mostly a resting day for me. What was I thinking? I was busy all day, but the laundry is all finished and put away...........until tomorrow. I got a lot done, and I had a lot of one on one time with Brooks too. I even got my exercise in. Ivy's sister wanted to start jogging with me, so we get the kids on their bikes and take off. It is fun. Jax had two bike wrecks, nothing major, only because he was running his mouth instead of making sure he stayed on the sidewalk.

There isn't anything really exciting going on around here, but I did want to tell those of you with young school age kids about a website my friend told me about. It is starfall.com and it is an awesome website to help them learn. There are things for Jax and Brooks on there and they love it. Check it out!

I SURVIVED

Well, Chris has been gone 16 days. The good news, I survived. I am tired but I survived. Okay, he is on a plane right now flying to XNA. He is staying the night at the farm and will head home tomorrow. The coast is clear for me to let you all in on the surprise projects I have done while he has been gone. He will not have any internet available until he gets home. I decided I was going to work out every day he was gone. By working out, I have an overflow of energy and decided to tackle some major projects. The first one was cleaning out the garage and putting a decorative and durable epoxy finish on the floor. Here are several pictures:

close up before:

close up after:

My other project was staining the back porch with a semi transparent concrete stain.

I hung some curtains and did some furniture rearranging too. I know he is going to be so shocked. The boys and I are so ready for him to get home. He has been gone way too long, but the good news is the long sales meeting is done until next year.

Also, today was my first parent teacher conference. It went great. She said his test shows him way above where they want them to be and he is one of her best students. I am glad that I got a good report, you never know. I have to start working more with Brooks. He is learning but really is not very interested. He just wants to watch hunting videos, act out the hunting videos, hunt the neighbor children, or play hunting on the wii. Hmmm, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Jax the videographer

Every once in a while Jax will ask me if he can get the video camera out and make a movie. I totally let him because I get the most precious things that way. He takes off with the camera and then we watch it later. It is so funny. He says "action" and "cut" and I don't know where he learned that, but it is cute. So anyway, I went outside to water and clean up the back patio. When I came back in they wanted to watch it on the big tv. I plugged it up and we started watching. It is so funny, Jax coaches Brooks and Ivy just like we do them. Jax was asking Ivy questions. One question was "who do you love?" She said my mom and my dad and your mom. It was so sweet. Anyway, Jax's movie was great until Brooks got completely naked. Typical. He was really, really shaking it for the camera. I tried not to laugh but couldn't help myself. They didn't notice my laughing because they were laughing so loud. I will be keeping that video for future blackmail. I did explain to him that that was very inappropriate and I hope he got the message. I really think that I keep a pretty close eye on them, but when we watch back Jax's video's each time I find them doing something I was unaware of. Kind of scary!!!

Neglect in the neighborhood!!!!

I am so upset. As most of you know, I am pretty much raising the little girl across the street. Everyone keeps telling me to put a stop to it, but I just can't. I feel so bad for her and her sister. Tonight, like most every night, it is 9:30 and their parents still aren't home. I don't get it. I am so mad at them, but I can't say anything. I guess if I thought it might make a difference I could bring myself to talk to their mom. It wouldn't make a difference though. All she cares about is having a good time with her friends. My heart breaks for those girls. I am being used, but maybe it won't be in vain. Maybe I can be some kind of good influence, that is why I do it. Although, every day that goes by, I become more irritated. I just might go off on her one day. If I do, it has been a long time coming. We'll see. I'll let you know if I do. Chris wanted to tell them just what he thought a long time ago, but I wouldn't let him. You know, they are our neighbors.

Anyway, it has been a busy week. I have told myself that I am going to exercise everyday until I lose 10 pounds. I started Monday and so far so good. I feel so great when I am exercising a lot. Brooks is really getting into it to. He rides his bike while I run. Tomorrow Jax has to go with us. We will see how that goes. It usually causes a fight because they fight over who is in front.

I have also been shopping the last 2 days. The deals out there are amazing right now. I bought 6 swimsuits today for 50.00. Seriously. I am not kidding. Dillards had their swimsuits marked way down. Like 9.99 and 4.99 then I got an extra 40% off of that. I bought a lot of clothes for the boys for next year too. After school I took the boys to Academy. Jax has been wanting another pair of tennis shoes. He wears the same pair to school every day. They had several styles on sale for 50% off. We bought 3 different sizes. He is set for quite a while.

Nature Fest

We went to the Nature Fest yesterday but I forgot my camera. Here are a bunch of pictures from today. The kids had a lot of fun. The girl in the picture is my friend and neighbor, Heather. She has the two blonde children, Brooke and Hunter. Of coarse, the other little girl is Ivy. Brooks absolutely fell in love with the miniature horse he was petting. It was so cute. It was the size of a dog. It was soooooo tiny. He watched them load it up in the trailer and he pouted for about 2 minutes. We have got to get my kids out of this neighborhood and somewhere where they can have some pets. They wanted to bring all of the animals home from the adopt a pet booth. I understand, I used to be the same way.

Brooks Annual "Daddy shirt" Picture

Here is this years picture. Make sure to see other posts below. I am posting two today.

Here is the link to all the previous pictures of him in that shirt

Faux Finishing

I was at one of my neighbors house and saw her bathroom that she had glazed. I loved it. So she came over to show me how to do it and we ended up half way done before we knew it. She jumped right in and wanted to help me. It was really nice of her. I really, really love the way it turned out. She wants to come over next week and help me paint the ceiling chocolate brown. I don't know if I am up to that. That would make a huge mess, but I know it would look good. The ceilings are like 12 feet and it would make the room cozier. Anyway, we will see but I doubt I will get that done. So here are the pictures. There is one close up of the wall before.

Golf Outing

What a great evening, except for the mosquitoes and I will discuss that later. So, I packed everyone a sandwich for dinner and drinks in the cooler. We picked up Jax from school and went golfing for the evening. He changed his clothes and shoes in the car and off we went. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. The boys both played several holes beginning to end. I am going to have to start playing too. I just don't feel like I can play very well, so I don't. About the mosquitoes....they are HORRIBLE. Seriously, have you seen the movie "The Birds" that is what it is like, but with mosquitoes. There isn't any recess at Jax's school because they are so bad. Chris said they are like that in Baton Rouge too. Something about the hurricane. I don't understand why, but whatever. They are horrible and I should have stock in OFF.

Tomorrow we are all going to eat lunch with Jax. He loves it when we come and see him. We have a busy weekend too. A birthday party for one of Jax and Brooks friends and it is Chris' birthday as well. Also, this weekend our neighborhood is putting on a huge Nature Fest both days. Hopefully it will be a lot of fun for the boys.

Happy 4th Birthday to Brooks!!!

My sweet baby boy is 4 years old today. How did that happen? At least he still lets me snuggle him like a baby. Anyway, he had a great birthday. He wanted pancakes and bacon for breakfast. He also wanted to go to ITZ. ITZ is like Chuck E Cheese only way, way better. So we went to ITZ to play games and eat pizza. He and Jax had a lot of fun. He also requested a white cake with white icing and blue writing. He has had way too much cake today, but it is his birthday. He got a lot of great presents. He is flying around the room right now playing with his new airplanes. Last night I made him a horse blanket, and he loves it. Thanks to everyone who was part of making his day special. I'll try to post his shirt pictures tomorrow or Monday.

Ike's Devastation

Well............we got home last night, barely. Seriously, it got a wee bit scary. We saw the signs that said "do not go to Houston or Beaumont," but they didn't really phase us. So, we were trucking right along and came to the first town without power. The whole town was completely shut down and dark. Kind of creepy. Then to the next town, still no power. It went on like that for a while. To make a long story short, we did finally get gas. We had to go out of our way, but we got gas. My neighbor, Pat, had prepared me for the mess that Ike had left. I wasn't surprised when I saw the streets covered with leaves and all of the trees down. I wasn't surprised by all the trash blown all over our neighborhood. I was however, unprepared for what I saw this morning as I headed to the grocery store. We went to Wal-mart because it was the closest. The line for gas was unbelievable. At least a 2 hour wait. The shelves on the food side were wiped out. We were able to get what we needed, but we certainly couldn't be choosy. I was really in shock. The things I usually come by so easily, like safe drinking water, gas, and food, are things that I take for granted. Imagine pulling up to the gas station and they say "sorry, out of gas." It would pose a little problem.

As for our home, the damage is minimal. I am going to have to replace some landscaping, but that is about it. I am so thankful. A lot of people around us are still without power. Actually, our streets are FULL of cars because people are sharing their homes.

10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!

Alright already, the weather ruined my wedding plans and now the weather has ruined by anniversary plans. Notice that I said the weather ruined my plans. It didn't ruin my wedding or my anniversary. I am thankful that there have been storms around us but no storms in our marriage. That is all that matters. I was looking forward to my weekend at Barton Springs but we will reschedule. I cannot believe that we have been married for 10 years. Unbelievable. I am so blessed though. I am more in love with Chris that the day we were married. He is my best friend and I look forward to the next 10.

As for my house, the report is not so great. I think we still have all of our windows, but my landscaping has been demolished. My neighbor called and says she doesn't know where all the trees went but they are gone!!!!! She also said all of the siding is off the back of her house and in her pool. She said it looks like the "Wizard of Oz" where debris is just flying threw the air. As I am writing this, the storm is still hitting our town so I am anxious for another report when it is gone. I am just praying my windows stay intact. I am not that concerned about my landscaping.............well a little but it can be easily replaced. I do pray for the people in Galveston that didn't evacuate as instructed. I hope there aren't as many fatalities as expected.

Curriculum night

Well, last night we got to go to school and talk with the teacher and find out everything I was wanting to know. It was great. We got their daily schedule and info on the library. We found out what they had been learning. Jax has already learned 4 sights words that he failed to tell me about. He is also the "student of week" for this week. I am so relieved. For him to be the second student of the week he must be being good. She said it is based on their behavior. So anyway, I feel better having some info. Today we are going to get ChickFila and go eat lunch with him.

School Days

I now have a child on a schedule, so I can tell you what day it is now. I still don't like it that I have to take him and leave him at school every day, but we are getting used to it. I am having issues with my children growing up. I know every age has its cherished moments, but if I could stop time I would. Brooks just completely bathed himself. I about cried. He is too big. Well, we all know time flies, nothing new. So Jax is doing great in school. He was very bored last week, but I think they are doing more things this year. I finally am getting some feedback from his teacher. She sends a binder home everyday that we must initial and send back. He has been getting great reports so far. She said he is very good and very smart. I hope so. I do know he has my sense of direction and can barely find his classroom. Tomorrow I am dropping him off at the door, and he is going to have to find his way. There are plenty of teachers in the hall to help. It is so cute to hear his friends yell his name when he gets there in the mornings. He has a friend name Drake, imagine that. You know his daddy is most likely a duck hunter.

On a different subject...we are still hunting golf balls. We went on the golf course just before dark and found 38 golf balls. It is so much fun. I am a little skittish now since my neighbor saw a rattlesnake on the trail the other day.

One more thing....Go McCain/Palin..... As far as I am concerned - Sarah Palin for President. I am kind of kidding, kind of. Really I don't know much about her other than what I heard last night, but she impressed me. Anyway, gotta watch the rest of McCain's speech.

The Annual "daddy's shirt" photo

These are 2 of about 20 shots. It doesn't get any easier, year to year, trying to get a good photo. It is cute though.

Mrs. Thompson

Well, there is Jax's teacher and another picture of him at his table. He seems to be doing great. He is bored though. He doesn't like sitting in his seat all day. I think when they get going it will be more fun for him. He says all they do is color. I think his teacher has her hands full. Jax told me today that he met the principal. I inquired a little and found out the principal had to come help Mrs. Thompson with a student who wouldn't mind and the child was running out of the classroom all day. From the few minutes I have spent in the class I can tell she is going to have to lay down the law. All I know is that I know he has to go to school, but that doesn't mean I have to like it!!!!!!! We miss him so much while he is gone.

First Day of School

What a weird day. I wasn't sure how it was going to go. I didn't know what to expect, but it did turn out to be a good day. He was up early and we were ready way early. I could tell he was a little anxious though. We walked him to his class and he sat at his seat and started coloring. He had a smile on his face and said goodbye. Chris and I looked at each other, and we were starting to tear up, so we headed for the door. Leaving him there was so hard. I wanted to be a fly on the wall all day. We got to the car and Brooks was not too happy. He didn't say a word for about 30 minutes. He said he wasn't talking because Jax was gone. We about started crying again. After awhile he snapped out of it and had a great afternoon playing with his daddy. They watched hunting movies and played wii. We thought 3:45 would never get here. Finally we went and got in the never ending car rider line. He made it to the car and had a huge smile on his face. Mainly because he had missed us. He said he had a great day and he wanted to go back. What a relief. We tried to get some details out of him, but couldn't get much. We got, "I colored 3 pictures, ate lunch, played on the playground, and went to the bathroom 2 times." That is it. We had a wonderful evening. The boys were in great moods. I think their time apart is going to be good for them. I can't wait to see how tomorrow goes. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Meet the Teacher Day!!!

We started off our day going to Jax's school and meeting his teacher. Her name is Mrs. Thompson, no kidding. I think I can remember that. Anyway, it is her first year to teach. I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I did get a good impression and am anxious to see how he likes the first day. He is not scared and he is not excited. I think that is good. One concern of mine is that there is a boy from our neighborhood that is going to be sitting across from him. This boy is very, very hyper and ADD. I have already had a talk with Jax and told him he needs to help Thomas by being a good example. We will see.

Because our days at the pool are numbered, we went yesterday and today. We got to the pool at 2 and stayed until 8:30. There was a back to school party from 6-9 and that was a lot of fun. I am so tired though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAX!!!!

Jax had such a great day today. He requested pancakes and bacon for breakfast. So, of coarse, that is how he started out his day. He wanted fillet Mignon, corn on the cob and mac and cheese for dinner. We should have never let him taste a fillet because, that now, is the only steak he likes. Some of the neighbor kids came over and decorated cupcakes, as you can tell from the pictures. These are just a few of the pictures. I'll try to post more tomorrow with the yearly "daddy's shirt" picture. He doesn't look thrilled, but the orange Nike hat was a requested item. I had to throw a pic of Brooks at the end of a busy day with no nap. Thanks to everyone who made Jax's day special.
