The Annual "daddy's shirt" photo

These are 2 of about 20 shots. It doesn't get any easier, year to year, trying to get a good photo. It is cute though.

Here is the link to all of the previous pictures:

Mrs. Thompson

Well, there is Jax's teacher and another picture of him at his table. He seems to be doing great. He is bored though. He doesn't like sitting in his seat all day. I think when they get going it will be more fun for him. He says all they do is color. I think his teacher has her hands full. Jax told me today that he met the principal. I inquired a little and found out the principal had to come help Mrs. Thompson with a student who wouldn't mind and the child was running out of the classroom all day. From the few minutes I have spent in the class I can tell she is going to have to lay down the law. All I know is that I know he has to go to school, but that doesn't mean I have to like it!!!!!!! We miss him so much while he is gone.

First Day of School

What a weird day. I wasn't sure how it was going to go. I didn't know what to expect, but it did turn out to be a good day. He was up early and we were ready way early. I could tell he was a little anxious though. We walked him to his class and he sat at his seat and started coloring. He had a smile on his face and said goodbye. Chris and I looked at each other, and we were starting to tear up, so we headed for the door. Leaving him there was so hard. I wanted to be a fly on the wall all day. We got to the car and Brooks was not too happy. He didn't say a word for about 30 minutes. He said he wasn't talking because Jax was gone. We about started crying again. After awhile he snapped out of it and had a great afternoon playing with his daddy. They watched hunting movies and played wii. We thought 3:45 would never get here. Finally we went and got in the never ending car rider line. He made it to the car and had a huge smile on his face. Mainly because he had missed us. He said he had a great day and he wanted to go back. What a relief. We tried to get some details out of him, but couldn't get much. We got, "I colored 3 pictures, ate lunch, played on the playground, and went to the bathroom 2 times." That is it. We had a wonderful evening. The boys were in great moods. I think their time apart is going to be good for them. I can't wait to see how tomorrow goes. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Meet the Teacher Day!!!

We started off our day going to Jax's school and meeting his teacher. Her name is Mrs. Thompson, no kidding. I think I can remember that. Anyway, it is her first year to teach. I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I did get a good impression and am anxious to see how he likes the first day. He is not scared and he is not excited. I think that is good. One concern of mine is that there is a boy from our neighborhood that is going to be sitting across from him. This boy is very, very hyper and ADD. I have already had a talk with Jax and told him he needs to help Thomas by being a good example. We will see.

Because our days at the pool are numbered, we went yesterday and today. We got to the pool at 2 and stayed until 8:30. There was a back to school party from 6-9 and that was a lot of fun. I am so tired though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAX!!!!

Jax had such a great day today. He requested pancakes and bacon for breakfast. So, of coarse, that is how he started out his day. He wanted fillet Mignon, corn on the cob and mac and cheese for dinner. We should have never let him taste a fillet because, that now, is the only steak he likes. Some of the neighbor kids came over and decorated cupcakes, as you can tell from the pictures. These are just a few of the pictures. I'll try to post more tomorrow with the yearly "daddy's shirt" picture. He doesn't look thrilled, but the orange Nike hat was a requested item. I had to throw a pic of Brooks at the end of a busy day with no nap. Thanks to everyone who made Jax's day special.

Should have gone with my gut!!!!

Chris was out of town Friday and Saturday. He got home about 8 last night. I was bored. Ted, our neighbor, called and had 10 tickets to the Gary Allen, Leann Rimes, Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney concert. Teresa (Ivy's mom) called to see if we wanted to go. Chris had already turned them down because he was out of town, and Ted had called her. Anyway, she wanted me to take the boys and go with her and her 2 daughters. I started to say no, but out of boredom, I said okay. Should have listened to my gut! I really don't have the energy to try to translate the evening, and don't know if I could convey it even if I tried. I don't mean to leave you hanging but I can't even explain it. Ivy is HORRIBLY spoiled and a ROTTEN brat. The night was unbelievable. Her mom just drank from 5-9 to cope and it is her fault. The 6 year old and her mom ruined what could have been a good time. By the way, Keith Urban was AWESOME!!!! the boys were good. They don't even have an appreciation of where they got to go, but they liked it for the first couple of hours. I have learned my lesson and I will NEVER go anywhere like that with them again. Pray that my house sells soon, I must get away from these nutcases!!

Fun in the Sun!!

Boy did we soak up the sun today. We are all exhausted. I took the kids (Jax, Brooks and Ivy) to the pool for 4 hours. We ordered Pizza and had it delivered to the pool. They thought that was cool and fun. We did have a little problem at first. The problem is that Brooks isn't tall enough to slide down the big slides. Unfortunately the other day the lifeguards let them both go down and they loved it. I had to bribe them to go for the first time, and they couldn't do it again fast enough. They are really big fun slides like they have at the water parks. So, now they tell us that Brooks isn't tall enough. Actually, Jax lacks an inch or two but they let him go without a question. As you must know, Brooks was completely heartbroken. He cried for about 20 minutes and I couldn't get him to stop. Finally, I suggested we go and do tricks off the diving board and that cheered him up. I don't think I flip like I used to, but it was sure fun. I played the whole time with them. I don't usually do that. It was fun and we are so tired. The kids are in bed and I'm watching the Olympics. We've been staying up too late every night watching the Olympics. Isn't it exciting!!!!!

Snake Hunting

The other day the boys and I went walking around the lake. I saw a huge Water Moccasin lying on the bank at the edge of the water. We have seen several there before and tried to kill them. I am not sure if Chris has killed any or not. We decided today we would go after them. As you can see from the picture, Chris and the boys got their guns and a golf club, and we took off. There were some people with two labs playing in the water. For that reason, or another, we didn't see any snakes. The kids were disappointed but we will try again tomorrow.

Hurricane Report.............

Well, all we got yesterday was some rain. It rained some today too. I am ready for some sunshine so we can go to the pool. I sure hate being stuck inside, but I did get some internet shopping done for the boys birthday's. I have been questioning them on what they want and what kind of party they want to have. It is so cute to hear their answers. Jax wants to go play golf with his dad, and he is dead set on the Callaway Junior golf set. I have tried to talk him into a cheaper set but he won't even look at them. He is so funny. He also wants the Razor bike from Walmart that has the snakeskin looking tires. Chris tried to get him to pick a bike from Academy (support them instead of Walmart) but he wouldn't give up on that either. I must say, he knows what he wants. Brooks wants to ride horses for his birthday party. Our neighbor has a horse ranch, and said he can fix us right up on that. Brooks did find a bike at Academy that he just has to have. He calls it "the bee bike" because it has bees or hornets on it. When I ask him what else he wants for his birthday, he just says "what do you think I should get, mom?" I told him he should get a Nintendo Wii with the hunting game. He agreed that that is a good idea. Well, I managed to get both kids to sleep before 9:00 and I am going to try to go to bed early too.

14 YEARS

Today is our 14 year "dating" anniversary. Chris and I cannot believe we have been together that long, but on the other hand we cannot remember not being together. We were laughing today, saying that we have made it through the seven year itch stage 2 times so we guess we are good. I have never had an itch to leave him, but I have had an itch to clobber him a couple of times, but that is just natural, right?????? Just kidding. I love him with all of my heart and he loves me. I look forward to the next 14 years.

On another note, I guess hurricane Edouard (who picked that name) is going to hit Galveston/Houston in the morning. It seems like that is all people are talking about. Hopefully it won't be too bad. I'll keep you posted on that.
